IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!........almost!

It feels like Christmas was here in August this year!  That is when we started listening to 1940s Christmas songs to get inspiration for our Christmas show opening this month.

The dashing Craig Yates from 'Only Men Aloud' will be joining us as a guest performer and it promises to really get you in the Christmas mood.

Tour dates are below, we hope to see you there! xxx

AUGUST & SEPTEMBER UPDATE

It has been a busy time for us Siren Sisters!  In August we sang in Welsh at the Eisteddfod (We are not Welsh speakers so it was quite nervewracking) and toured with the lovely Only Men Aloud as their support.  An article about us was in the South Wales Echo and Western Mail and we were also reviewed at the hottest sweatiest gig possible at Gwdihw!  It was kind luckily :-) I have spent a lot of time with Matthew Dentus (filming and editing extraordinaire) chopping up bits of our Summer show into videos for Facebook and our site....it has taken a long time.  A proper showreel is in the pipeline but I'm doing that on my own so might take a while.....me and Macs have a love/hate relationship!

So what's happening this month some of you have been asking!  September started with singing at the wedding of a lovely couple (Sara and John) who are kind of family friends and had such a tasteful, spohisticated wedding.  We may have snuck into the jacuzzi........it wasn't me!

We are performing on Friday 14th at MOD St Athan in the Sergeant's Mess.  It is all very 'top security' and we all have to have photo ID to be let in.  It is through an agent we haven't worked for before so we will let you know how it goes.

On the 29th we are doing our first gig in what seems like ages with our band at St Donat's Arts Centre; Mark on drums, and the two Daves on piano and double bass.  The Dave thing gets a bit confusing. We wish we could gig with these guys all the time.  It is a posh dinner event if you fancy it? http://www.stdonats.com/event/stand-to-attention-for-the-siren-sisters

And to top it all off, the following morning we will be visiting Roy Noble on his debut weekend show.  He has left his daily show in order to have  more relaxed schedule and will now be on the airwaves on a Sunday morning.  To listen in just go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/en/console/bbc_radio_wales on Sunday 30th September.  It is also my dads birthday that day (and Jo's dad because we are real siblings) so we will be giving him a shout out!

Thanks for reading,

Wow! We are clearly too busy singing for our supper to update this blog! Lots of news to catch up on:-
We have just finished our tour of 'A Royal Jubilation' which was a great success, you can see photographs on our Facebook page.
We had a busy Jubilee weekend which included a street party in Gilwern where we had a 1940s jeep plus driver EACH to escort us to the stage and a show at Powis Castle, a beautiful National Trust property.
Playing our Ukuleles on tour 2012
We continue to have our costume sponsor, Vivien of Holloway London, and have recently acquired a make up sponsor...must be every girl's dream! They are called 'Beauty Without Cruelty' and are 100% cruelty free (no animal testing of products or individual ingredients) and vegan! Sarah is very happy about this :-)
Gigs we have recently done include an aftershow party for 'Dance GB' at the Wales Millennium Centre, a concert for the Penarth Summer Festival, Armed Forces Day, and a BBC Radio Wales programme with presenter Lynn Bowles who usually works on Radio 2.
Coming up.....We are singing as part of the Welsh Proms on Tuesday 24th July at St. David's Hall, and are busy learning our Welsh songs for The National Eisteddfod!
We will keep this blog updated xxx
